Community bands together for competitive initiative against food insecurity (crossroadstoday.com) — Victoria residents are being invited into a friendly competition to fight hunger as the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent launches its "Hunger Heroes Challenge" with A&M Victoria partners. Local teams of any size can earn points all September by fundraising, donating food, and volunteering, with top groups recognized Oct. 5 at the A&M Victoria Northwest location on Airline Road. 
2. Victoria man arrested on child indecency charge (victoriaadvocate.com) — Authorities report that a 47-year-old Victoria man was arrested last week on an outstanding warrant alleging indecency with a child by sexual contact and a separate speeding charge. Victoria police, assisted by a U.S. Marshals task force, took him into custody on Sabine Street, and he remained in the Victoria County Jail on more than $50,000 total bond as of Monday.
3. Catch Casey Chesnutt Performing at The Crossroads BBQ & Brew (kisselpaso.com) — A big day of country music is coming to the Crossroads BBQ & Brew Music Festival, featuring Casey Chesnutt's first public performance in the area alongside several Texas country acts. Victoria residents can buy VIP or general admission tickets online or skip fees by paying cash at Bed Butlers on North Navarro before prices rise after Labor Day.
4. Victoria West opens season against dangerous Calhoun offense (crossroadstoday.com) — Victoria West fans can look ahead to Friday night's season opener at Memorial Stadium, where the Warriors will host Port Lavaca Calhoun in a highly anticipated non-district matchup. With a seasoned Victoria West defense facing Calhoun's record-setting quarterback, this Week 1 clash should offer an early glimpse of how both teams might fare in the 2026 season.
