• Waco Fire to evaluate new thermal imaging technology in $400K pilot (star-telegram.com) — Waco firefighters will soon test cutting-edge helmet-mounted thermal imaging gear after the City Council approved a three-year, roughly $396,000 agreement with Austin-based Qwake Technologies. Sixteen C-THRU units, software, and training should arrive within 60 days, with deployment targeted for January. The system promises better navigation, live video to command staff, and post-incident reviews during smoke-filled or low-visibility emergencies.
   

• 'Where did you see her last?': Officer turns toddler's lost toy into heartwarming Baylor gameday memory (kwtx.com) — During a Baylor football game day in Waco, a police officer turned a three-year-old's lost Princess Jasmine doll into a memorable lesson in trust and kindness. After the toy vanished near McLane Stadium, the officer patiently took a "missing person's report," searched with her, and promised to keep looking. Her grateful father is now asking the community's help to identify and thank the officer.
   

• Laydner, McKnight Lead Strong UNT Showing at Lumberjack Classic - University of North Texas Athletics (meangreensports.com) — North Texas women's tennis is riding a 21-6 performance at the Lumberjack Classic into its next challenge, the ITA Texas Regional in Waco from October 8–12. Local fans can soon see standout players like Carolina Laydner and Zimora McKnight compete in person. The team dominated both singles and doubles in Flagstaff, setting up strong momentum for their Waco appearance.
