'Hope is a team sport': Waco nonprofit to hit 2000th bed donated to local children (kwtx.com) — A Waco-based nonprofit, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, is about to build its 2,000th bed for local children in need and is inviting residents to help at a big community build on Saturday, Sept. 12. Volunteers of all ages can join monthly build days or donate "bed-in-a-bag" sets so each child receives a complete, brand-new bed setup.
   

2. Mother Allegedly Lied to Police About an Intruder Harming Her Son After She Left Him Home Alone (globemagazine.com) — Waco police say a local mother falsely claimed an intruder assaulted her autistic son after she briefly stepped out, but investigators report security footage and iPad data did not support her story. Detectives allege she left the boy home alone during a tantrum, then tried to cover it up, leading to charges of injury to a child and making a false report.
   

3. Tess Jamerson (baylorbears.com) — Baylor Athletics has named longtime Baylor staffer Tess Jamerson as Director of Operations for the "B" Association, overseeing membership, events, and programs for letterwinners and supporters. Her nearly two decades of alumni-focused work will shape how former athletes and fans stay connected to Baylor, an important cultural anchor for Waco residents who follow Bears sports closely.
   

4. Waco-area events mark 25th anniversary of 9/11 attacks (star-telegram.com) — Greater Waco residents will have several ways next week to honor the 25th anniversary of 9/11, including a Lacy Lakeview memorial ceremony and stair climbs at McLane Stadium and Jacob's Ladder in Cameron Park. Locals are encouraged to participate in these public events, which remember victims and first responders alongside national commemorations in Dallas and beyond.

Texas Wind vs San Antonio Patriots HomeSchool (maxpreps.com) — A Waco-based homeschool volleyball team, Texas Wind, swept San Antonio Patriots HomeSchool 2–0 on Sunday, following a recent 2–1 win over BVCHEA HomeSchool. The squad, now 3–3, looks ahead to more non-league matchups this week as it continues representing Waco in statewide homeschool competition.
