• The Woodlands Township votes on reduced tax rate for FY 2027; considers mounted patrol changes (communityimpact.com) — The Woodlands Township board has proposed a slightly reduced property tax rate for FY 2027 while building in a 3% salary increase for eligible employees. Officials also cut the customer engagement mounted patrol budget and set aside funds to potentially shift mounted patrol services to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, with final decisions still to come. 
• Swimming Reveals Signing Class (vucommodores.com) — A standout swimmer from The Woodlands High School, Brooke Miller, is among Vanderbilt's newest recruits after a dominant four-year high school career and multiple All-American honors. She joins eight other swimmers from across the country and Canada in the Commodores' 2026-27 class, all drawn by Vanderbilt's blend of academics, athletics, and team culture.
• Lion Student Hits the High Notes During Summer Opera Program in Italy (etamu.edu) — A senior music major from The Woodlands, Lynzie Van Fleet, spent a month in Italy performing Mozart's "Così fan Tutte" and training with Opera Seme's intensive opera program. She gained experience on Italian stages, studied language and culture, and plans to bring those skills back to her future private voice studio.
