About the Book
Join a New England forester on a fifty-year quest for something larger than all of us. Here are a series of essays, stories and poems emerging from the natural world, but always connected to a life that has had its common share of illumination and darkness, hope and despair, love and loss, ambition and failure, resistance and acceptance, anger and peace. Marking timber for harvest becomes a meditation on the unique connection between responsibility to the natural world and awareness of self and others. A shadow in the woods, a voice on the wind opens up the mystery inherent in all the wisdom traditions. The impact of a sudden death on a logging crew lingers for decades, demanding a resolution between hubris and fate. The crushing retreat of the United States from climate science and advocacy manifests in a longing for the precise language of another time when we were closer to the natural cycles of life.
About the Author
Bob formed a deep connection to the natural world very early in life, beginning a journey that continues today. His experiences in nature have shaped his thinking, expanded his awareness, and offered him new perspectives. To better understand them, Bob studied psychology and wisdom traditions and integrated these insights into a new leadership model in forestry and large-scale land conservation.
Currently, as a speaker and author, he is dedicated to promoting a bioeconomy that emphasizes the construction of tall buildings using engineered wood. His work focuses on replacing materials with high fossil fuel content, such as plastic, steel, and concrete, with sustainably sourced and climate-resilient forest products. Bob lives in an oak forest on the north shore of the island of Martha’s Vineyard.

Join us for our monthly open mic and featured poetry reading series, Poetorium Too, hosted by&nbsp;Paul Szlosek&nbsp;and&nbsp;Ron Whittle, The evening will include a 40-minute reading by poets Mark Luebbers, author of Flat Light, in person, and Benjamin Goluboff, author of Moe Asch: A Speculative Life in Verse and Other Poems, via Zoom from Chicago. Then we'll have an open mic with 5-minute slots for each reader if time allows.
Mark Luebbers
Mark is a teacher and writer living in Princeton, MA. Flat Light, his first collection, was published in 2020 by Urban Farmhouse Press. Mark has published poems in a number of journals and magazines, including The American Journal of Poetry, The Journal of Americana, Wayfarer Magazine, Apple Valley Review, Blue Line, Full Bleed, Friends Journal, and The Hopper. Mark's poems have been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes.
Benjamin Goluboff
Ben is the author most recently of Moe Asch: A Speculative Life in Verse and Other Poems (Kelsay Books). He teaches at Lake Forest College.

About the Book
The daily struggles Adam Clarke faces are enough to split him in two. His genuine identity as a young man who endeavors to make those around him happy, as a compassionate care worker who goes above and beyond in his profession and as a loving son, pitted against his scatterbrain state of mind, addictions, and his deep self-loathing. Against the advice of doctors and his grade-school teachers, Adam’s mother chose not to medicate her son’s debilitating ADHD. As a result of her decision, Adam begins to self-medicate his problematic impulsiveness and overwhelming urges. Now twenty-three and guilty of a horrific accident, Adam is about to lose the only thing he has left, his freedom. He must decide to give up on himself or fight for a better life on the other side.

About the Author
Jennifer Shaw Cronin, author Under the Hidden Moon and now Beneath the Turmoil, has spent more than forty years working in the animal care field. Alongside her professional career, she enjoys writing stories that explore resilience and hope, CrossFit and hiking with her dog. She volunteers at the local animal shelter, serves as a library trustee and continues to champion causes close to her heart. She lives in Massachusetts with her husband, their dog, three goats and an assortment of chickens. Together, they share a full and joyful life with four daughters and two grandsons.&nbsp;

Saturday, May 30 — Noon to 4 PM 55 Union Street, WORCESTER, MASS.

Join us for a peaceful protest outside the Charles River Laboratories 55-57 Union Street location where beagles and other animals are being experimented on and killed right now in downtown Worcester.
Charles River is a known purchaser of beagles from places like Ridglan Farms and Marshall BioResources, the nation's largest commercial beagle breeder (23,000 beagles in windowless sheds in North Rose, NY), which has racked up over 20 federal Animal Welfare Act violations.
The dogs are bred at criminal facilities like Marshall and Ridglan Farms and sold to research labs like CRL to be poisoned with toxic pharmaceutical compounds paid for by pharma companies then killed and dissected at study's end — by design.
This is the system we are trying to change.
Beyond the fact that no animal should be used for experimentation, Massachusetts law requires healthy research dogs to be offered for adoption when no longer needed. We want to ensure the experiments stop, the dogs are freed and the adoptions take place.
Charles River is currently under investigation by both the DOJ and the SEC. The FDA is moving to phase out animal testing — because more than 90% of drugs that pass animal studies fail in humans. The science doesn't work. The killing continues anyway.
OUR REQUESTS
— End all canine experimentation at 55-57 Union Street immediately. — Release all research dogs and cats currently at this facility to verified rescue organizations — Comply with the Massachusetts Beagle Bill — End the commercial relationships with Marshall BioResources and Ridglan Farms
This is the first in a series of peaceful protests until our requests are met.
