Briar Woods High School

Girls in the Boat by Alice Austen, set throughout the late 1900’s, follows groups of 9 young women, a coach, and a journalist on rowing teams as they train and compete to fight for their right to ultimately row in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Together, they fight gender discrimination together while dealing with conflicts, pressure from coaches, relationships, media surveillance, and personal struggles. As tensions rise both on and off the water, the girls must learn to work together and overcome their differences to succeed as a team. Ticket Link; https://briarwoodshs.booktix.com/
