Maria Cianciolo has been in the&nbsp;health care&nbsp;field&nbsp;since 1993 with a particular passion for Seniors.&nbsp;A nationally certified Dementia&nbsp;Care Educator and&nbsp;Practitioner and&nbsp;Parkinson’s Awareness&nbsp;Trainer, Maria is in volved in community outreach, particularly concerning&nbsp;Veteran’s Affairs, The American Cancer&nbsp;Society, American Heart Association,&nbsp;and the Alzheimer’s Association.

The quality of smartphone cameras is improving rapidly. Their capabilities extend far beyond what most people seem to use them for... taking selfies. In many situations, they work quite well as stand-ins for SLR cameras. It therefore is no longer necessary to drag around a big camera because you're afraid of missing that great photo opportunity. A good quality smartphone can work pretty well instead. This is a class for those truly interested in producing first-rate images with their smartphone cameras. That means moving away from the Auto Mode, where control by you is almost nonexistent, to the Manual or Shutter Priority Modes. This puts you more in charge of how the final images will look. And they no doubt will be much improved. Please note: The taking of selfies will not be covered in this class. All the information necessary for taking superior smartphone pictures will be addressed. Topics to be covered include: • Understanding basic photography theory • Identifying and setting the camera controls • Suggestions for handholding your camera • Specific steps to follow when taking a picture • Useful accessories for your smartphone camera • Finding and installing the best smartphone camera apps • What to look for when buying a new or used smartphone
In addition, you’ll be photographing with your smartphone camera. I’ll be offering feedback – helping you get more comfortable with the operation of your camera and offering suggestions for improving your image compositions. A very complete handout will be given to you when you arrive. It contains lots of information, and will greatly simplify the process of understanding what is being taught in class. In addition, the handout will allow you to spend less time taking notes and more time listening and participating in class. You also will find it quite useful for review after the course has ended.
Presented by Peter, of Peter Glass Photography, an award-winning professional photographer specializing in commercial, corporate, and editorial photography. For over 25 years, he has serviced clients locally, nationally, and internationally. Peter holds a Master of Arts degree in Film and Television Production from the University of Texas.

A Night at the Opry features a musical journey with the band Gunsmoke to Nashville, Tennessee, to experience the legendary "show that made country music famous:" The Grand Ole Opry. A true story of Revolutionary Connecticut
On Christmas Eve, 1776, 225 sickly American prisoners of war were marched from British military jails in New York City to be exchanged. Most were enlisted soldiers from Connecticut captured during recent battles. This presentation will describe the men’s harrowing journey and what became of them, highlighting those who came from central Connecticut. Among these were Pvt. Abel Hart and Pvt. Jonathan Ingham of Farmington and Pvt. Daniel Bartholomew of Plymouth. Researcher and former CT Army National Guard Officer, Tom Hogan, tells us the story and its impact on Connecticut at the time.

Come join us for the return of our annual End of Summer Festival! THIS EVENT IS FREE TO THE PUBLIC! There will be many vendors on hand, as well as our church concessions stand. Concessions will be available all day, and also make sure to purchase a ticket for our gift basket raffle throughout the course of the day. We will also have our church crafts available at our info tent. Musical acts performing - Thaea The Bigfoot Diaries Rev Link Hullar Workshops/lectures scheduled: "The Magic of Water" with ministerial student Corie Art Channeling with Carol P. Mojo bags (aka spell pouches) with pour president Joe $10/10 minute tarot card readings will also be available during certain blocks of the day. These are first-come, first served and reservations cannot be made ahead of time. We will also have our Procession of the Goddess Ritual at 6:30 pm, and we will close the festivities at nightfall with a huge bonfire, and music/drum circle. Finally, this event begins our non-perishable food drive that will run through November. If you wish, please bring a donation that can be given at the info table. All donations will go towards the charity chosen at the Bristol Interfaith Coalition Thanksgiving service later this year. Feel free to tell your friends about this event and keep checking back for more updates.
