For a $513,000 home, that’s about $11.85 more per year, while similarly valued businesses would pay about $27.57 more. Residents can weigh in at a truth-in-taxation hearing on August 27 at 6 p.m.
   

• Tyler Robinson wants to delay Charlie Kirk murder case as he fights to limit press access (nypost.com) — A Utah defendant accused of killing conservative commentator Charlie Kirk is asking to pause his murder case while he appeals a ruling that allows cameras and photographers in the courtroom. He argues media coverage and images could hurt his chance at a fair trial. The shooting allegedly happened in front of thousands while Kirk spoke at Utah Valley University in Orem.
   

• Public colleges in Utah update budget plans for strategic reinvestment (deseret.com) — Utah’s public colleges, including Utah Valley University in Orem, are entering year two of a major budget shake-up that cuts 10% but lets schools earn funds back by reinvesting in high-value programs. UVU has already completed its required disinvestments and remains on track to meet state targets, as schools collectively channel about $23 million more into instruction and research statewide.
