• Mixed-zoning development in Providence sparks public controversy; not recommended by planning commission (hjnews.com) — Providence officials are weighing a mixed-use project at Main Street and 100 North that could add upstairs apartments and new businesses like a café or bakery to the downtown core. Residents are sharply divided over parking, pedestrian safety for elementary students, and preserving historic sites, and the planning commission narrowly recommended against the proposal before it heads to the City Council.
