• Lecture series presents historian Carson, August 8 (hardwickgazette.org) — A free public lecture on race, history, identity, and justice is coming to the Greensboro United Church of Christ on Saturday, August 8, at 6:30 p.m. Historian and Putney School teacher Edward Carson will speak on “Justice in White Spaces,” drawing on his scholarship in race, religion, and Black political thought. Residents are invited to attend and join the conversation.

• The Ellington Collective delivers lively performance (hardwickgazette.org) — Music lovers in Greensboro just enjoyed a high-energy Duke Ellington tribute at the United Church of Christ, part of the Summer Music from Greensboro series. The Ellington Collective mixed swing and Latin rhythms for a near-capacity crowd. The series continues on August 4 with the Grammy-winning Pacifica Quartet performing one of Beethoven’s late quartets, and residents can find details at summermusicfromgreensboro.net.
