(commonsnews.org subscription) — Putney is one of nine Windham County towns joining a new regional policing pilot that will reshape how the Sheriff’s Office provides services and how towns pay for them. A new Law Enforcement Governance Council, including a Putney representative, will set budgets, define services, and report to the Legislature, aiming to improve slow or inconsistent responses and share resources more fairly across rural communities.
