The move follows serious crashes near schools and intense advocacy from parents and school board members, and it launches a broader county task force on pedestrian and traffic safety around campuses.
   

• Alexandria Police Arrest Suspect in Stabbing on Mount Vernon (alexandriava.gov) — Alexandria police have arrested a 21-year-old suspect they tracked down on Columbia Pike in Annandale after a stabbing left a man in critical condition. Detectives say community tips and security camera footage led them to the Annandale location, and the suspect is now jailed without bond on an aggravated malicious wounding charge.
