Suspect Arrested After Attempted Abduction At Annandale Park, Police Say

ANNANDALE, VA — Fairfax County police said detectives arrested the suspect involved in an attempted abduction at Wakefield Park in Annandale.

“Detectives have arrested the predator involved in this attempted abduction,” Fairfax County police said Tuesday in a post on X at 7:37 p.m. “There is no threat to the community.”

Police had previously released a composite image of the man they said was wanted in connection with an attempted abduction and indecent exposure Sunday afternoon at the park, located at 8100 Braddock Road.

Officers responded to Wakefield Park around 1:40 p.m. on Sunday after a woman reported seeing a man exposing his genitals while she was walking on a trail, police said.

Police Said Same Man Was Linked To Both Incidents

While officers were responding to the indecent exposure report, police received another call about an attempted abduction in the same park.

A woman was riding her bicycle when a man stepped in front of her, causing her to swerve around him and get off the bike, police said. The man then tried to pull her into the woods, but the woman pushed him and ran away, according to police.

Police said the suspect continued chasing the woman before fleeing the scene. Officers searched the area but did not find him.

The woman sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene, police said.

Victim specialists from the Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division were assigned to help ensure the victim received resources and assistance, police said.

Police did not immediately release the suspect’s name, charges or other details about the arrest in the X post.
