ARLINGTON, VA — A 32-year-old Alexandria man is facing multiple charges after he threatened a customer with a pair of scissors during a robbery at a Columbia Pike business on Saturday, according to Arlington County authorities.

Police responded around 11:30 a.m. to investigate the report of an assault at a business in the 4100 block of Columbia Pike, according to the incident report. The victim told officers that he was paying for merchandise, when he was approached by another man.

"As the victim collected his change from the cashier, the suspect stole the undisclosed amount of cash from the victim," according to the report. "When the victim confronted him, the suspect threatened the victim with scissors and charged towards him before he subsequently fled the scene."

Search the area, police located the suspect, whom they identified as Mohamed Roble of Alexandria, the report said. During Roble's arrest, police recovered suspected narcotics.

Roble was charged with robbery: threat, petit larceny, and possession of Schedule I/II controlled substance, according to police. He was then held without bond.

On Monday morning, Roble was arraigned in Arlington General District Court and had a bond hearing on Tuesday morning, according to court records. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on June 30. He remains in custody.

The most serious charge Roble is facing is possession of Schedule I/II controlled substance, which is a Class 5 felony. If convicted on this charge, Roble could be sentenced from one to 10 years in prison, under the Code of Virginia. However, at the court's discretion, the punishment could be lowered to up to 12 months in jail and fine of up to $2,500.

Roble has several upcoming court dates scheduled in Alexandria and Fairfax County.

On Friday, at 9:30 a.m., Roble has a preliminary hearing in Fairfax County General District Court on a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny in connection to an April 1 arrest, according to court records.

Roble is due back in Fairfax County General District Court at 9:30 a.m. on May 28 to face charges of petit larceny and trespass after being forbidden, which are both Class 1 misdemeanors, court records say. These stem from an arrest on March 15.

On June 1, at 9:30 a.m., Roble is scheduled to be arraigned in Alexandria General District Court on a charge of public intoxication, according to court records. He given a summons on March 15 and released.

Roble has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 9:30 a.m., on June 24, in Fairfax County General District on two petit larceny charges, according to court records.

Roble has another preliminary hearing in Fairfax County scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on July 23, according to court records. The three misdemeanor charges — one for petit larceny and two for trespassing — stem from an April 13 arrest in connection to a March 9 offense.
