Arlington Hit-And-Run Suspect's Federal Court Date Moved In Illegal Reentry Case
A judge rescheduled the arraignment and sentencing for Edison Antonio Ramirez Guerra, an Alexandria man charged with illegal entry into U.S.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — A federal judge has rescheduled the court appearance for an Alexandria man indicted for illegal reentry into the United States following a felony hit-and-run arrest in Arlington.
Senior U.S. District Judge Anthony J. Trenga issued an order Tuesday granting a motion to continue the proceedings for Edison Antonio Ramirez Guerra, 38. Originally scheduled for May 13, the defendant’s arraignment, plea, and sentencing are now set for May 20 at 2 p.m. in Alexandria Courtroom 600.
The federal investigation began after the Arlington County Police Department detained Ramirez Guerra on Feb. 27 for a felony hit-and-run. According to an affidavit filed by a deportation officer with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), subsequent fingerprint analysis confirmed Ramirez Guerra is a native and citizen of Honduras.

Beyond the federal charge, Virginia judicial records indicate a history of traffic-related offenses in Northern Virginia. In January 2023, Ramirez Guerra pleaded guilty in Fairfax County General District Court to an amended charge of speeding. At the time of his federal indictment, he also faced misdemeanor charges in Arlington for driving while intoxicated and four counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
While an Arlington Circuit Court judge granted bond for several local charges on March 10, Ramirez Guerra has remained in custody during the federal proceedings.
The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. If convicted of illegal reentry, Ramirez Guerra faces federal prison time and subsequent removal from the country.
