Arlington Primary Voter Guide: What’s On The Aug. 4 Ballot

ARLINGTON, VA — On Aug. 4, voters in Virginia’s 8th Congressional District will choose who will represent the Democratic Party in the November general election for that seat in the U.S. House of Representatives and who will represent the Republican Party in the race for the Senate.

Voters will also choose which of three Democrats running in for the open seat on the Arlington County Board will represent their party in the Nov. 3 election.

Early voting for the primary began on June 18 and ended on Aug. 1. Voters are not registered by party in Virginia, so any registered voter can cast a ballot in the primary they choose.

VA Democratic Primary

Five candidates are running for Congress in the Democratic primary. The five candidates are:

• Donald S. Beyer*
• Michael Duffin
• Adam Dunigan
• Mo Seifeldein
• Lorena Thorne Bruner

On the Republican side, Tony Sabio has already been named the party’s nominee.

Three candidates are running the open Arlington County Board seat in the Democratic primary. The three candidates are:

• James DeVita
• Matthew D. “Matt”de Ferranti*
• Julie Farnam

Senate Republican Primary

Voters can choose from among 3 candidates running to represent the Republican Party in the U.S. Senate race in November. Those candidates are:

• Kim Farington
• Bert K Mizusawa
• David Earl Williams

On the Democratic side, incumbent Sen. Mark Warner has already secured his party's nomination.

Voting In Person

Arlington polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. A precinct map can be found here.

Voting by mail

Completed ballots must be returned by 7 p.m., Aug. 4.

• Mail ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before Aug. 4 and received by 12 p.m. Aug. 7.
