Arlington Public Schools 2026-27 Calendar: See The First Day And Key Dates

ARLINGTON, VA — Summer break is winding down, and Arlington Public Schools families can begin planning for the 2026-27 school year.

Students in kindergarten through 12th grade will begin classes Monday, Aug. 31, 2026. Prekindergarten and Virginia Preschool Initiative students will start Tuesday, Sept. 1. The last day of school is scheduled for Thursday, June 17, 2027, with an early dismissal.

Key Dates For The 2026-27 School Year

Here are some of the important dates Arlington Public Schools families should mark on their calendars for the 2026-27 school year:

• Aug. 19-21: BASE Camp for new T-Scale staff
• Aug. 24-28: Pre-service required for all staff
• Aug. 31: First day of school for K-12 students
• Sept. 1: First day of school for PreK and Virginia Preschool Initiative students
• Sept. 4 and Sept. 7: Labor Day holiday
• Sept. 16: H-B Woodlawn Back-to-School Night
• Sept. 17: Elementary School Back-to-School Night
• Sept. 21: Yom Kippur holiday (no school)
• Sept. 23: Grace Hopper Center Back-to-School Night
• Sept. 24: Middle School Back-to-School Night
• Sept. 30: High School Back-to-School Night
• Oct. 7: PSAT testing day; Arlington Community High School Back-to-School Night
• Oct. 7-9: Elementary early release for parent-teacher conferences
