Free Diwali Festival Brings Color, Music And Culture To Arlington

Ballston Quarter will host a free Festival of Lights celebration on Oct. 16 with Indian music, dancing, henna art, and a pop-up market.

ARLINGTON, VA — Ballston Quarter will celebrate Diwali with an evening of Indian music, traditional dancing, art and shopping during a free community festival next week.

The Festival of Lights: Diwali Celebration will take place Friday, Oct. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ballston Quarter, 4238 Wilson Blvd.

Organized by the Ballston Business Improvement District, the event will introduce visitors to Diwali, a major Hindu festival celebrated by millions worldwide. Often called the Festival of Lights, Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

The celebration is open to all ages, including those experiencing Diwali traditions for the first time.

  • Rangoli art: Visitors can help create a colorful community artwork inspired by traditional Indian designs.
