ARLINGTON, VA — Shoppers looking to escape the summer heat while hunting for bargains can start their Independence Day at the Arlington Civitan Open Air Flea Market, which returns Saturday with more than 150 vendors under the covered I-66 parking garage at Washington-Liberty High School.

The market, one of Northern Virginia's longest-running community traditions, runs from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 4 at the parking garage at 15th Street North and North Stafford Street in Arlington.

Unlike many outdoor flea markets, most vendors are set up inside the covered garage, offering shoppers shade while they browse antiques, collectibles, vintage items, artwork, jewelry, books, furniture, home décor, tools, toys, vinyl records and other merchandise.

Admission and parking are free. Parking is available through the 15th Street North entrance.

The Arlington Civitan Club has operated the flea market for more than 70 years as a fundraiser supporting local charities and programs, particularly those serving people with developmental disabilities in Arlington. According to the organization, proceeds from the market remain in the community to benefit local nonprofit organizations.

Organizers expect more than 150 vendors for the July 4 edition of the market, with merchandise changing from month to month as new sellers participate.

Because the market opens at 7 a.m., organizers encourage visitors to arrive early to shop during the coolest part of the day before afternoon temperatures increase. The event will be held rain or shine, with the covered garage allowing the market to continue even if wet weather develops.

More Markets Planned Through November

The July 4 event is the fourth Arlington Civitan Open Air Flea Market of the 2026 season. The market continues on the first Saturday of each month through November. Additional information about the market and vendor registration is available at the Arlington Civitan Open Air Flea Market website.
