Man Charged In Attempted Robbery On Wilson Boulevard
Police arrested an Arlington man wanted in connection to a reported robbery at a Wilson Boulevard business.
ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington man was charged with attempted robbery by force after a reported theft turned into a struggle at a Rosslyn business on May 5, according to authorities.
Arlington County police officers were dispatched just before 11 p.m. to investigate the report of a robbery at a business in the 1500 block of Wilson Boulevard, according to the incident report. When officers arrived, they determined that a man had entered the business, collected merchandise and allegedly tried to leave without paying.
An employee confronted the suspect as he attempted to leave the store, but the suspect grabbed the employee and the two struggled over the merchandise, according to police. During the struggle, the merchandise fell to the floor.

The man then fled the business on foot, according to police. No injuries were reported. Although police issued a broadcast and officers searched the area, they failed to locate the suspect.
The suspect later turned himself in at the police station, where he was taken into custody. Arlington County police identified the suspect as 36-year-old Nana Amoah of Arlington.

Amoah was arrested and charged with attempted robbery, according to police. He was held without bond.

On Monday morning, Amoah was arraigned in Arlington General District Court and a bond hearing was scheduled for 9 a.m. on Tuesday, according to court documents. He has a case review scheduled for 10 a.m. on May 19 and a preliminary hearing at 11:30 a.m. on June 30.
The attempted robbery by force charge is a Class 6 felony. If Amoah is convicted, he faces a potential sentence of one to five years in prison or, at the court's discretion, up to 12 months in jail and fine of $2,500, under Virginia law.
