MD Man Faces Unlawful Entry Charge In Arlington

Arlington County police arrested a 57-year-old Maryland man who they say tried to enter a vacant residence on Thursday night.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 57-year-old Maryland man was arrested Wednesday night for trying to break into a Madison Manor home, according to Arlington County police.

Officers responded around 6:15 p.m. to the 800 block of North Manchester Street to investigate the report of a burglary.

Once on the scene, the officers determined that a man had tried to enter a vacant residence, according to the incident report. With the help of a witness, officers located the suspect nearby and took him into custody.

Ernest Duran of Silver Spring, Maryland was arrested and charged with unlawful entry, according to police.

Duran was arraigned Thursday morning in Arlington General District Court and released on his own recognizance, according to court records. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on July 24.

Unlawful entry is a Class 1 midemeanor. If convicted of this charge, Duran faces a potential sentence of up to 12 months in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500, under the Code of Virginia.
