Construction Underway On New Loudoun County Recycling Center

LOVETTSVILLE, VA — Construction began this week on a new recycling drop-off center at Lovettsville Community Park that will expand recycling options for residents and eventually replace an existing site in town.

Work on the new Lovettsville Recycling Drop-Off Center began on or about Wednesday, according to Loudoun County. The facility is being built on park property near Lovettsville Park Drive.

The new center will include dedicated containers for glass bottles and jars, allowing glass to be collected separately from other recyclable materials. County officials said that separating glass allows it to be recycled more efficiently into new products.

Once completed, the facility will replace the existing recycling center behind the Lovettsville Diner at 2 N. Berlin Pike. That location will remain open throughout construction, allowing residents to continue dropping off recyclables without interruption.

Construction will temporarily limit access to a portion of the park's equestrian and natural surface trail. The trail is expected to fully reopen when the project is completed in early 2027.

Other trails and Lovettsville Park Drive are expected to remain open throughout construction.
