Driver Of Loudoun School Vehicle Charged In Pedestrian's Death
The driver of a Loudoun schools maintenance vehicle has been charged in the death of a 20-year-old Ashburn pedestrian, the sheriff said.
ASHBURN, VA — The driver of a Loudoun schools maintenance vehicle has been charged in the Jan. 13 death of a 20-year-old Ashburn woman, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
Calina Yu, the pedestrian hit by the school vehicle, was pronounced dead at the intersection of Claiborne Parkway and Portsmouth Boulevard in Ashburn, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Loudoun County Public Schools employee struck Yu while driving a school district maintenance vehicle and remained at the accident scene to speak with detectives, according to a news release.

The driver, Dale Whitney Taylor, 58, of Leesburg, was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian, a Class 1 misdemeanor, a news release from the sheriff's office said. Taylor was released on a summons.
The charge was filed after investigation by the sheriff's office and in consultation with the Loudoun County Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, the release said.
