Job Seekers Can Get Resume Help, Meet Employers During Loudoun Workforce Month

Loudoun County will offer hiring events, resume reviews and career workshops throughout September, as well as programs focused on AI.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Job seekers can meet employers, get one-on-one resume help and sharpen their interview skills during a series of free career events planned across Loudoun County in September.

The Loudoun Workforce Resource Center is offering the virtual and in-person programs as part of Workforce Development Month. Topics range from understanding a pay stub and recovering from financial hardship to navigating artificial intelligence in the job market.

Hiring events will also give residents opportunities to connect directly with recruiters from Gate Gourmet and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.

Here's the full schedule:

Understanding Your Pay Stub

  • When: 12-1 p.m., Sept. 14
  • Where: Virtual
  • What: Learn how to read and understand earnings, taxes, deductions and benefits listed on a pay stub.
  • Registration: Required

The Resume Roadshow — Ashburn

  • When: 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Sept. 15
  • Where: Ashburn Recreation & Community Center, 21105 Coopers Hawk Drive
  • What: Get a 20-minute resume review from a career professional. Participants should bring a resume and one or two job postings they are interested in.
  • Registration: Encouraged, but not required

Answering Interview Questions

  • When: 9-11:30 a.m., Sept. 16
  • Where: Virtual
  • What: Learn strategies for answering interview questions and demonstrating why you're a strong candidate.
  • Registration: Required

Hiring Event With Gate Gourmet

  • When: 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Sept. 16
  • Where: Workforce Resource Center, 705 E. Market St., Leesburg
  • What: Meet recruiters and learn about jobs in food production and customer service with the airline catering and hospitality company.
  • Registration: Encouraged, but not required

Pathways To Career Growth: NOVA Workforce Certification Program

  • When: 12-1 p.m., Sept. 18
  • Where: Virtual
  • What: Northern Virginia Community College representatives will discuss professional certification courses designed to help workers develop new skills or prepare for new careers.
  • Registration: Required

What Job Seekers Should Know In The Age Of AI

  • When: 1:30-3 p.m., Sept. 18
  • Where: Virtual
  • What: A panel will offer strategies for staying competitive in a job market increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence.
  • Registration: Required

Careers And Coffee

  • When: 8-11 a.m., Sept. 19
  • Where: Blend Coffee Bar, 43170 Southern Walk Plaza, Suite 120, Ashburn
  • What: Meet informally with Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority representatives and learn about career opportunities at Dulles International and Reagan National airports.
  • Registration: Encouraged, but not required

  • What: Get a 20-minute resume review. Participants should bring a resume and one or two job postings they are interested in.

Express Mock Interviews

  • When: 9-10 a.m. and 10:15-11:15 a.m., Sept. 22
  • Where: Workforce Resource Center, 705 E. Market St., Leesburg
  • What: Practice interviewing during a 20-minute session with workforce professionals. Participants should dress for an interview and bring a resume.
  • Registration: Walk-ins only

Pathways To Career Growth: NOVA Workforce Certification Program

  • When: 6-7 p.m., Sept. 22
  • Where: Virtual
  • What: Learn about NOVA Workforce professional certification preparation courses for people looking to develop new skills or change careers.
  • Registration: Required

30-Second Commercial: So, Tell Me About Yourself

  • When: 9-11:30 a.m., Sept. 23
  • Where: Workforce Resource Center, 705 E. Market St., Leesburg
  • What: Learn networking techniques, develop a personal introduction and create personal business cards.
  • Registration: Required

LinkedIn Learning Certifications For Career Success

  • When: 10-11 a.m., Sept. 24
  • Where: Virtual
  • What: Learn how to use LinkedIn Learning certifications to develop skills, highlight accomplishments and strengthen a professional profile.
  • Registration: Required

Recovering From Financial Hardship

  • When: 5-6 p.m., Sept. 24
  • Where: Virtual
  • What: Learn strategies for organizing finances, communicating with creditors and setting financial recovery goals.
  • Registration: Required
