US Marines Get Surprise Gift After NFL Drills Contest At Commanders Training Camp: Report
A team of Marines were the winners of an NFL Combine-style drills competition at the Commanders Training Camp in Ashburn.
ASHBURN, VA – About 100 active-duty service members gathered at the Washington Commanders’ training camp in Ashburn on Friday to take part in combine-style drills – and win surprise tickets to a Commanders game – according to reports.
WTOP reports that the teams of service members were led through a variety of drills, including the broad jump, the 40-yard dash, throwing and catching tests, and the three-cone drill, which tests the ability to switch direction in a tight setting. The event was part of the USAA’s Salute to Service campaign.
Unbeknownst to the participants, the winning team would get two free tickets to a Commanders home game.

The winning team was a group of Marines that got a major assist from Sergeant Jerard Walters, a Marine stationed at Quantico, who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds and won the broad jump competition.
