• Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol workers vote to form union (wjhl.com) — Workers at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol in Virginia have voted to form a union, aiming for a first contract that locks in consistent rules, wages, benefits, and working conditions. The vote, conducted under the National Labor Relations Act, still awaits formal certification, after which Teamsters Local 519 plans to survey employees and begin negotiations with Hard Rock’s management.
   

• Four charged in multi-jurisdictional shoplifting investigation (wjhl.com) — Local deputies have tied several shoplifting cases to a group accused of stealing from Rural King in Bristol as well as Lowe’s stores in Abingdon and Tennessee. Washington County investigators stopped the suspects’ vehicle near Exit 17, arrested three people on shoplifting charges, and say all known related cases in the region are now identified and closed.
