Greenspring Names New Sales Director

Patterson has been guided by a commitment to honesty and compassion--an approach shaped by years of listening to residents

Greenspring, an Erickson Senior Living community in Springfield, Va., is excited to announce the promotion of Kevin Patterson to sales director!

Patterson, a seasoned leader with more than two decades of experience in senior living, most recently served as the community's associate sales director. Since joining Greenspring last year, he has supported hundreds of incoming residents and contributed to the continued success of the sales team.

"I've been fortunate to learn from many exceptional leaders throughout my career," says Patterson, who plans on bringing this knowledge and a resident-centered mindset to his new role. "Working with future residents, hearing their stories, and helping them plan for their next chapter is rewarding."

A meaningful career

Patterson's career with Erickson Senior Living began in 2002 when he joined Riderwood, an Erickson community in Silver Spring, Md., as a high school student, serving residents dining in the restaurants.

"I started young and discovered how special Erickson Senior Living communities truly are. The residents supported me, colleagues mentored me, and I learned that this was an organization where I could grow," says Patterson, who continued working at Riderwood throughout college.

After earning his degree from the University of Maryland, Patterson considered a variety of career paths. But discussions with his colleagues at Riderwood opened the door to a role with the sales team, an area that aligned well with his interest in helping people.

In 2012, Patterson became a sales associate, tasked with leading pre-residency meetings, assisting at informational events, and helping incoming residents prepare for their move. As he progressed to senior sales associate, he embraced the opportunity to support prospective residents through the decision-making process.

Moving up the ladder

Recognized for his dedication and relationship-building skills, Patterson was invited to help launch Siena Lakes, a new Erickson Senior Living community in North Naples, Fla.

As a member of the inaugural sales team, he helped establish Siena Lakes as one of the area's most sought-after retirement communities. He was then promoted to sales manager, where he supported team members while continuing to foster strong connections with Siena Lakes' incoming residents.

When Greenspring's associate sales director position opened up, Patterson welcomed the opportunity to bring his experience back to the mid-Atlantic.

"This role represented both professional growth and a return to my roots," he says. "I'm honored to now serve as sales director and to build on Greenspring's legacy of excellence."

Leadership rooted in connection

Throughout his career, Patterson has remained committed to guiding prospects with honesty and compassion--an approach shaped by years of listening to residents at multiple Erickson Senior Living communities.

"Our residents are truly our greatest teachers," he says. "Their feedback helps us understand what matters most to retirees considering a move. Those insights allow us to better support future residents and strengthen the services we provide."

Since beginning his new role earlier this year, Patterson has enjoyed deepening the relationships he has with both team members and current residents.

"Greenspring is a vibrant, engaged community," he says. "The most rewarding part of my work has always been forming genuine relationships with the people who choose to move to our communities. Their trust inspires me every day."

Patterson also looks forward to helping introduce community enhancements that are currently underway. Responding to resident feedback, Greenspring is planning updates to its walking trails and outdoor recreation areas, including bocce and pickleball courts as well as expanded spaces to support indoor-outdoor events.

Come visit!

Patterson encourages prospective residents to visit the campus, get to know the lifestyle firsthand, and speak openly with current community members.

"People often arrive with questions or expectations shaped by older ideas of senior living," he says. "Once they see our restaurants, amenities, and the social opportunities, everything changes. Greenspring offers a level of energy and convenience that is hard to imagine until you experience it."

He adds, "My goal is to ensure that every person feels informed, supported, and empowered as they make this important decision. We are here to help, every step of the way!"

Making a difference

Outside of work, Patterson is settling into his new Northern Virginia home. He and his girlfriend, Stephanie, enjoy exploring Old Town Alexandria and discovering new coffee shops.

As Patterson reflects on his move and his new leadership role, he is grateful for the warm welcome he has received.

"Greenspring represents everything I value--engagement, connection, and the chance to make a difference each day," he says.
