📰 News we're reading

• Falls Church leaders seek swift progress on bus rapid transit line (arlnow.com) — Falls Church officials are pushing hard to speed up a new bus rapid transit line that would run along Route 7 and include three lines through the city, potentially reshaping how residents commute. City representatives on the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission want both quick action and strong design and branding, while regional leaders weigh funding, dedicated lanes, and how to keep buses frequent enough to attract riders.

• Alexandria's jobless rate drops, but so does the number of residents in workforce (alxnow.com) — Falls Church is seeing lower unemployment, with its August jobless rate down to 3.3% from 4% a year earlier, even as the region loses workers overall. A new analysis shows Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax County and Falls Church all facing shrinking employment counts, reflecting federal job cuts, pandemic aftershocks and high living costs pushing residents out of Northern Virginia.
