• Honaker awarded $564,183 grant for downtown revitalization (thelebanonnews.com) — Honaker is receiving a $564,183 Community Development Block Grant to revitalize its downtown, including façade improvements for commercial buildings at no upfront cost to owners. Town officials also highlight progress on the flood recovery waterline project, a proposed rail trail and Lockhart House study, and the envisioned Market Square and Downtown Commons that could expand festivals and community events.
   

• Honaker falls in five-set thriller (thelebanonnews.com) — Honaker’s Lady Tigers volleyball team let a two-set lead slip away in a five-set heartbreaker to Holston, extending their losing streak to eight matches. Despite the 1-15 record, the coach praised the team’s early energy and believes Honaker can still surprise opponents in the tough Hogoheegee District as the regular season winds down.
   

• Two men sentenced for distribution of drugs (thelebanonnews.com) — A Honaker man, Cody Len Skeens, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, with additional time suspended, for distributing drugs and maintaining a common nuisance, reflecting his prior narcotics convictions. Another man from Abingdon received an identical sentence, and local law enforcement say the penalties are meant to warn dealers targeting Russell County communities, including Honaker.
