Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter Virginia SAR participated in the Purcellville Independence Day Parade

The Chapter's patriotic float continuously rang a bell to "Let Liberty Ring" in celebration of the 250th Anniversary of our Nation

The Purcellville parade route was lined by Patriotically dressed citizens who applauded and cheered the float as it passed by. Chapter member, and float owner, Warner Workman drove the tow vehicle. Riding the float were compatriots Ken Bonner, Steve Van Deusen, Barry Schwoerer, and Daughters of the American Revolution member Paula Schwoerer.

Ringing the bell was Vian Peri, who will be a sixth grader at Willard Middle School this next school year. He wore a Colonial outfit consistent with that worn during the Revolution. Vian was eager to participate in the celebration of our Nations 250th anniversary . His mother, Diane Peri, reached out to the Loudon VA 250 Committee to find opportunities for Vian to participate in 250th events. Our chapter offered Vian the opportunity to ride the float and ring the bell. Vian plans to ride the float in both the Lovettsville and Leesburg Independence Day Parades and he may help at the Loudoun County Courthouse celebration of the 250th. Mr. & Mrs Peri rode in the tow vehicle with Compatriot Workman.
