• Proposed change to business license tax for carnivals (pagevalleynews.com) — Luray officials are considering a flat $200 business license tax for each carnival, circus, or similar event held on contiguous days at the same location, replacing the current $25–$500 per-day structure. • Valley veterinarians see early spike in ‘highly contagious' parvovirus cases (whsv.com) — Veterinarians in and around Luray are seeing parvovirus cases earlier than usual this year, and they’re urging dog owners to double-check vaccination records now. The highly contagious virus can be deadly, especially for puppies, but local experts stress it’s very preventable with routine distemper-parvo shots and prompt vet care if vomiting or bloody diarrhea appear.

• Shenandoah National Park Announces Extended Public Safety and Sobriety Campaign through November (nps.gov) — Starting June 1, Shenandoah National Park will run sobriety checkpoints and a high-visibility traffic safety campaign through November 15, with operations based out of Luray and other entrances.
