• Luray woman dies, two juvenile passengers injured in fatal Page County crash (whsv.com) — A 32-year-old Luray woman, Elsa G. Torres, died Friday in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 340 Business in Page County, and two juvenile passengers suffered minor injuries, according to Virginia State Police. Investigators say the minivan left the roadway twice before striking an embankment, a tree, and a fence, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. 
• Supervisors discuss two new event venues (pagevalleynews.com) — From their Luray meeting room, Page County supervisors approved a new 186-guest banquet and event facility on Riverbend Road near Stanley and scheduled an August 17 public hearing for another venue on Tanners Ridge. Both projects are grandfathered under older zoning rules, and planners say they must balance rural character and environmental protections with growing demand for wedding and event spaces near Shenandoah National Park.
