Haymarket Man Charged With Assaulting Police Officer
Officers had originally responded to a report of harassing phone calls when they found the intoxicated 54-year-old from Haymarket.
MANASSAS, VA — David Anthony Murphy, 54, of Haymarket, was arrested April 10 after drunkenly kicking a police officer.
Officers initially responded to the Hilton Garden Inn in Haymarket following a report of someone making harassing calls to the Public Safety Communications Center. Murphy was found, intoxicated, and while being taken into custody kicked an arresting officer, police said.
The officer didn’t report any injuries.

Murphy is charged with one count of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, three counts of obstruction of justice and one count of public intoxication.
