Northern VA Community College Announces $300k Investment In New Skilled Trades Center
HITT Contracting says it is making the investment to help meet demand for skilled workers in the state.
MANASSAS, VA – HITT Contracting will invest $300,000 over three years to support a skilled trades center at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), HITT and the college announced in a press release May 5.
The investment will go to the Manassas Skilled Trades Center, currently under construction. The center is planned to be a 24,000-square-foot facility that will increase the school’s programming and its capacity for automotive technology of all kinds, diesel power generation and facilities maintenance technology, according to the release. The newly named HITT Energy Innovation Lab will be the center’s hub for specialized workforce training in electrical and trade skills.
The Virginia Office of Education Economics has identified electricians and other trades involving electrical installation and repair among its high-demand occupations for the region, with thousands of job openings each year. HITT and NOVA say the investment is intended to meet the coming need for skilled tradespeople in the state.
