Plans For Up To 5 New Data Centers In Western Prince William County Revived: Report

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA – A plan to build as many as five new data centers at a former camping site in western Prince William County has been revived after a few years of dormancy, according to a new report.

The Prince William Times reports that a plan to put up to five data centers on what used to be the Hillwood Camping Park in Gainesville is back on track and scheduled to be put to supervisors in the fall.

The site is owned by JK Land Holdings, which is asking the county board of supervisors to rezone it to allow the data centers to be built, the outlet reports. About 100 people living at the site were made to leave to make way for the project.

At a community meeting on the project Aug. 13, Prince William County Supervisor George Stewart, D-Gainesville, expressed opposition to the project, saying the proposed data centers’ proximity to homes is a problem.

The Coalition to Protect Prince William, an organization created to fight the development of data centers in the county, is already mustering opposition to the project and pointing out JK Land Holdings Chair Chuck Kuhn's financial contributions to various supervisors, as reported by the Prince William Times.
