Janet Echelman, Rebecca Lazier Bring Noli Timere To Capital One Hall

TYSONS, VA — A collaboration between internationally acclaimed sculptor Janet Echelman and award-winning choreographer Rebecca Lazier will take center stage at Capital One Hall this fall as part of the second annual Celebration of the Arts.

Noli Timere ("Be Not Afraid") will be performed Sept. 19 in the Main Theater at Capital One Hall. The production combines aerial performance, dance and large-scale sculpture, bringing together Echelman's signature net sculptures with choreography by Lazier in a work that explores the interaction between movement and art. The performance is presented in partnership with the Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art in conjunction with Janet Echelman: Radical Softness, a mid-career retrospective opening this fall.

Tickets Go On Sale July 31

Tickets go on sale Friday, July 31, at 10 a.m. through CapitalOneHall.com. Prices begin at $78.90. Ticketholders will also be invited to a post-show discussion featuring Echelman and Lazier, moderated by Tephra ICA Executive Director and Curator Jonell Logan.

According to Capital One Hall, Noli Timere was conceived by Lazier, a Guggenheim Award-winning choreographer, and Echelman, whose monumental net sculptures have been installed in cities around the world. The performance is accompanied by an original score composed by French Canadian cellist and composer Jorane.

The performance is one of the featured ticketed events during the Celebration of the Arts, a two-day festival scheduled for Sept. 19-20 at Capital One Center in Tysons.
