Input Wanted On Route 7 Widening Between Route 123, I-495 In Tysons

TYSONS, VA — The Virginia Department of Transportation will host a virtual public information meeting on April 29 to discuss the planned widening of Route 7 between Route 123 and Interstate 495.

The project aims to expand Leesburg Pike to accommodate multimodal improvements, including space for future bus rapid transit. According to VDOT, the proposal includes adding turn lanes between Chain Bridge Road and International Drive/Gallows Road and replacing certain service roads with shared-use paths.

  • Upgrading traffic signals throughout the corridor.
  • Implementing access management changes to address vehicle safety and congestion.
  • Installing high-visibility crosswalks, ADA-compliant ramps, and accessible pedestrian signals at multiple intersections.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be conducted via Zoom. The meeting can also be accessed by calling 833-548-0276 (use webinar ID# 815-3125-2665). VDOT's project team will deliver a presentation followed by a formal question-and-answer session.

The department is seeking public feedback through May 14. Residents of Tysons, McLean, Vienna, and Falls Church may submit comments through an online form on the project webpage, via email at meetingcomments@vdot.virginia.gov, or by mail to Scott Ruffner at VDOT’s Fairfax office.
