Man Charged In String Of Fairfax County Medical Office Burglaries

A Woodbridge man has been charged with three burglaries of Fairfax medical offices and police believe he could be involved in more.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A Woodbridge man has been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries targeting medical offices across Fairfax County, according to police.

Carlos Anthony Mitchell, 67, is accused of burglarizing three medical offices since May in the Mason, McLean and Fair Oaks police districts, according to a Fairfax County Police Department release.

In each case, police said someone forced their way into a closed medical office. Surveillance video showed a suspect dressed in professional clothing, along with gloves and a medical-style mask.

The investigation began May 19 after a burglary in the 8200 block of Willow Oaks Corporate Drive, where cameras, camera equipment and cash were stolen, according to police. Detectives later located stolen camera equipment that had been pawned and identified Mitchell as a suspect.

Detectives subsequently linked Mitchell to two September burglaries — one at a medical office in the 1300 block of Beverly Road in McLean on Sept. 3 and another in the 13100 block of Route 50 in the Fair Oaks area on Sept. 11.

A similarly dressed person wearing a blazer, white dress shirt, gloves, blue bucket hat and medical-style mask appeared in surveillance video of those burglaries, police said.

Mitchell was arrested Sept. 29 and charged with three counts of burglary, two counts of petit larceny, two counts of destruction of property and one count involving stolen property with intent to sell, according to police. He is being held without bond.

Detectives say they are investigating whether Mitchell could be connected to additional burglaries in Fairfax County.
