McLean Community Center Announces August Theater, Family Events And Fall Registration

McLean Community Center's August calendar features theater, class registration and family events throughout the month.

MCLEAN, VA — The McLean Community Center has released its August 2026 calendar, featuring live theater, registration for fall classes and several community events for families at its Ingleside Avenue campus and the Old Firehouse Center.

The month begins with the final performances of the McLean Community Players' production of "1776" at the Alden Theatre. The Tony Award-winning musical runs on weekends through Aug. 2, with evening performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $18 for McLean Community Center tax district residents. The production explores the debates surrounding the nation's founding and is recommended for all ages.

Fall class registration opens at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, both online and at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave. The newly released Fall Program Guide includes classes, performances and activities for all ages, including a mobile bootcamp class, Halloween flower arranging workshop, open Mah-jongg play and a dance for seventh- and eighth-grade students.

Families interested in the Old Firehouse Center After School Program have until Friday, Aug. 14, to take advantage of early bird pricing. The annual membership covers the Aug. 24 through June 17 program year and includes daily snacks, themed clubs, homework space, monthly pet therapy, transportation from participating McLean-area schools and discounts on trips and dances. After Aug. 14, membership prices increase.

Throughout August, the Old Firehouse Center will continue hosting Open Game Nights every Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Visitors can enjoy table tennis, bridge, Mah-jongg, arcade games and the center's sensory lab. Children younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The month's activities conclude with OFC Ignite: Back to School Kickoff & Tailgate Party on Aug. 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free family event features games, food, music, refreshments, ping pong, board games, arcade games and activities designed to celebrate the start of the new school year. Children younger than 18 must attend with an adult.

The McLean Community Center advises residents to check mcleancenter.org for the latest event information and schedule updates. Residents of the McLean Community Center tax district are eligible for discounts on many programs and performances.
