McLean's Valley Wood Road To Close During Daytime Hours For Pipe Replacement
A temporary detour will be in effect during daytime hours while VDOT replaces a drainage pipe on Valley Wood Road in McLean.
MCLEAN, VA — Valley Wood Road in McLean is scheduled to close to through traffic during daytime hours from Monday, May 18 through Thursday, May 21 for drainage pipe replacement, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Weather permitting, the closure will affect Valley Wood Road, also identified as Route 2804 and 37th Street North, between Vermont Avenue, Route 690, and North Kensington Street. VDOT said the road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Drivers who need to reach properties along Valley Wood Road and 37th Street North will still have access, according to VDOT. But traffic will not be able to continue past the work site in either direction. The work site is located next to the property at 1854 Valley Wood Road.

VDOT said through traffic will be detoured by way of Vermont Avenue, Massachusetts Avenue, Rhode Island Avenue, Rockingham Street and North Kensington Street before returning to Valley Wood Road and 37th Street North. Drivers are asked to follow posted detour signs while the work is underway.
The project is scheduled for four weekdays and is dependent on weather conditions, according to VDOT. No additional traffic changes or construction details were included in the announcement.
