ACPS 2030 Goals Dashboard: District Meets 9 Of 16 Targets, Backslides In 2

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Alexandria City Public Schools has launched a public dashboard allowing users to measure its progress toward its goals for the next few years.

The ACPS 2030 Strategic Plan Dashboard tracks ACPS’ performance with regard to 16 indicators in five goal areas identified by the school district.

“The dashboard tracks our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), the specific, measurable outcomes we use to gauge success, and displays baseline data, anticipated trajectory, current performance and targets through 2030,” ACPS wrote in announcing the dashboard.

The KPIs five goals are: creating environments where students feel supported, engaging and challenging students, recruiting and retaining talented teachers, cultivating trust through community engagement, and preparing students for life after graduation.

According to ACPS, in the first year of its strategic plan implementation, the district exceeded, met or approached its target for 69% of the KPIs. It met or exceeded targets in nine out of 16 indicators, came close for another two, saw no change in three and declined in two.

The dashboard shows major improvements in students' feelings of safety and the number of safety incidents in schools.

Where the district lost ground in reaching goals was in retaining licensed staff and in getting students to complete Career Technical Education and Workforce Development programs.

The district's federal graduation indicator rate also declined slightly, according to preliminary data.

The dashboard has incomplete data for post-secondary enrollment rates.
