Alexandria Woman To Lead VA Digital Services Overhaul: Reports

The Alexandria resident will direct the new Virginia Digital Services team, tasked with improving online services and fighting IT waste.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – An Alexandria woman has been appointed to direct Virginia's new Virginia Digital Service, a team tasked with modernizing digital government services, improving digital systems and providing oversight for state information technology contracts, according to reports.

According to the Alexandria Brief, Andrea Fletcher, formerly the first chief digital strategy officer at the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, has been tapped to lead the new team, which will engage engineers, designers and other technology professionals to overhaul state technology services and spending.

Fletcher led the digital service team at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and had previously worked in federal health IT policy, artificial intelligence governance and health systems operations.
