Fire Partially Collapses Hybla Valley Home, No Injuries Reported: FFX Fire And Rescue

ALEXANDRIA, VA – No injuries were reported after a late-night fire caused a Hybla Valley area home to partially collapse on Thursday, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue reports

According to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, firefighters responding to a two-story single-family home at the intersection of Fordson Road and Douglas Street just before 11:30 p.m. on Thursday found heavy fire on both floors of the building, with flames showing through the roof.

Crews tried to enter the house, the fire service reports but were blocked by the intense flames and a partial collapse of the second floor and front porch. Eventually, they were able to control the fire and protect a neighboring house using an exterior attack.

The fire service also reports that it was able to cool a fuel oil tank at the rear of the home.

A second alarm was requested to support the effort, and the fire was extinguished. The fire service reports that the home’s occupants weren’t at the location at the time of the fire and no civilians or firefighters were injured. Investigators are working to determine the fire’s cause and origin.
