Metro Track Vehicle Derails, Shuts Down NoVA Commuter Line Monday Morning
A metro line connecting Northern Virginia to Washington, DC, was out of service Monday morning after a track vehicle derailed overnight.
ALEXANDRIA, VA – A Metro track vehicle derailed overnight on Sunday, creating headaches for Monday morning commuters.
The Washington Metro announced that a track vehicle had derailed late Sunday night on the system’s Yellow Line, and that the line would run only between Huntington and Arlington Cemetery into the afternoon. Commuters wanting to get into the District of Columbia were directed to take the system’s Blue Line.
The Yellow Line was already out of service over the weekend for track maintenance and is scheduled to be out of service next weekend as well.

Metro said no injuries were reported as a result of the derailment and anticipated that service would be restored by the afternoon.
