A Peek At The Birdie: ALX's Coming Chicken Joint Popping Up At Del Ray Farmer's Market
The chicken specialists hope to open their doors officially in June.
ALEXANDRIA, VA – The curious and hungry can get a sneak peek at a restaurant opening in Alexandria this summer at the Del Ray Farmers’ Market in May.
Little Birdie, the sister restaurant to Matt and Tony’s, will be making an appearance at the Del Ray Farmer’s Market on May 30, with a chicken sandwich, chicken satay, a yogurt bowl and green goddess asparagus on the menu. (A previously planned market pop-up was postponed due to weather and rescheduled to the current date.)
The coming restaurant’s website says it will celebrate chicken with ingredients that are locally sourced and change with the season. Its menu highlights birds on milk bread buns, plus salads, down-home sides like deviled eggs and pickled cucumbers, plus caviar and tuna tartar, for diners who want their tendies elevated.
