Major Affordable Housing Project Pitched In Tysons: Report

A developer wants to replace a Tysons hotel plan with two affordable apartment towers totaling up to 525 units near the Metro.

TYSONS, VA — A plan for a hotel near the Greensboro Metro Station could be replaced by two affordable apartment towers containing more than 500 units, the Washington Business Journal reported.

Lincoln Avenue Communities is proposing a 29-story building with up to 229 apartments and a 38-story building with up to 296 units at 8350 Leesburg Pike. The developer filed a rezoning application Thursday for the vacant 1.73-acre property.

The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority bought the site for $13.75 million in January and is partnering with Lincoln Avenue on the project, according to the report. The authority has said it wants the development to provide housing for Tysons workers across a range of incomes.
