What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have been proud to call Reston home since 1981, and that long-standing connection to the community has shaped both my personal and professional life. Over the years, I have remained actively engaged in initiatives that bring neighbors together and strengthen our shared sense of purpose.

I am the founder of Reggae on the Lake, a free community event that not only celebrates culture and connection but also serves as a fundraiser supporting Cornerstones. Cornerstones works to promote stability, empowerment, and hope through support, advocacy, and community-building for individuals and families in need, with a vision of a just and connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

My history of service and sustained commitment to Reston reflects the leadership, dedication, and community focus I would bring to the Board of Directors.

What issues define your campaign platform?

My campaign is not centered on a single issue. While topics such as preserving green space, addressing proposals like a casino development, and managing rising member assessments are important, I believe effective leadership requires a comprehensive approach. Every member concern deserves thoughtful consideration and balanced decision-making.

I intend to bring a fresh, high-level perspective to the challenges facing Reston. The Board of Directors should function as a governance body that sets clear vision, policy, and strategic priorities, while empowering Reston Association staff to professionally execute those decisions for the betterment of our community.

My focus is on responsible governance, transparency, and long-term stewardship to ensure Reston remains a vibrant and well-managed place to live for generations to come.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

One of my most visible accomplishments is the success of Reggae on the Lake, a community event I founded that has grown into a well-attended annual gathering while raising meaningful funds for Cornerstones. The event reflects my ability to bring people together, manage complex logistics, and deliver results that directly benefit our community.

I currently serve on the Reston Design Review Board, where I help evaluate projects to ensure they align with Reston’s architectural standards and community vision. By nature, I am a problem solver who approaches challenges thoughtfully and collaboratively.
I am also honored to have the endorsement of a former Reston Association Board President.

With four generations of my family living in Reston—including my parents, children, and grandchildren—my commitment to this community is both personal and long-term. My depth of experience and connection to Reston is unmatched.

If you win this position, what accomplishment would make your term in office a success?

If elected, my accomplishment will not be defined by a single headline or initiative, but by the strength of the collaborative leadership I bring to the Board. I intend to work closely with fellow Board members and Reston Association staff to thoughtfully guide our community forward in an ever-changing environment.
My priority will be to ensure that progress and innovation remain aligned with the original vision of Reston’s master plan—one built on balance between residential life, natural open space, economic vitality, and community connection.

Success, to me, means preserving what makes Reston special while positioning it responsibly for the future.

What is your vision for the Reston community?

My vision for Reston is straightforward: to embrace the opportunities of a changing world while preserving the unique sense of community that sets Reston apart.

Reston has long been recognized for its thoughtful planning, natural beauty, and strong civic spirit. As our region continues to evolve, we must remain forward-thinking—adapting to economic, environmental, and social changes—without losing the values that define us.

I believe Reston can continue to serve as a model community by balancing innovation with preservation, growth with green space, and progress with people-first decision-making. Protecting that distinctive spirit while preparing responsibly for the future is at the heart of my vision.

The best advice shared with me was:

The best advice I have received is that the Board of Directors exists to be the voice of its members. That principle has stayed with me.

Serving on the Board is not about personal agendas or individual priorities—it is about listening, representing, and advocating on behalf of the community as a whole. The concerns of our residents must become the concerns of the Board.

If elected, I will approach every issue with that responsibility in mind, ensuring that decisions reflect thoughtful input, transparency, and a genuine commitment to the people who call Reston home.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

As a real estate professional, my career has been built on listening carefully, understanding people’s concerns, and helping them navigate important decisions. That same approach defines how I serve my community.

I am accessible, transparent, and always willing to engage in thoughtful conversation. I believe leadership begins with listening, and I welcome direct dialogue with residents about the issues that matter most to them.

Above all, I am approachable. I want every member to feel comfortable reaching out, sharing their perspective, and knowing their voice will be heard.
