Ready To Be Rocked? Almost Queen Is Coming To Reston

RESTON, VA — Queen tribute band Almost Queen will make its first Reston appearance Saturda, during a free concert at Reston Town Center.

The performance will begin at 7:45 p.m. at the Pavilion. The Sip & Stroll portion of the event starts at 6:30 p.m., allowing concertgoers to purchase beverages from 11 participating establishments surrounding the venue.

Saturday’s show will conclude this season’s 15-performance Reston Concerts on the Town series, organized by the Reston Town Center Association and BXP. The concert is open to people of all ages, and no tickets are required.

Almost Queen Making Reston Debut

Almost Queen performs music from throughout Queen’s catalog, including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Radio Ga Ga” and “We Are the Champions.” The band features Joe Russo on lead vocals and piano, Steve Leonard on lead guitar, John Cappadona on drums and Randy Gregg on bass.

“You have to pay upwards of $100 to see them on their ongoing tour, they are that good, but like all our RTC concerts this is free and open for all ages,” RTCA Executive Director Robert Goudie said in a statement.

Alexandra Young, BXP’s vice president of regional marketing, said Queen’s music continues to connect with audiences and called Almost Queen’s concert a fitting conclusion to the season.

“We’ve welcomed crowds of more than 3,000 throughout the season, and we expect this show to be one of our strongest turnouts yet,” Young said.

Free parking will be available throughout the day and evening in Reston Town Center’s garages.

More Music Planned This Fall

Although Saturday’s performance will end the summer series, organizers have announced two additional events at the Pavilion.

The second annual Rocktoberfest will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, with Vertical Horizon as the headliner. Everything and Virginia Coalition will open the event.

Reston Town Center will also hold its inaugural DJ Dance Party on Oct. 24. Three DJs are scheduled to perform as the Pavilion is converted into a dance floor.

Both fall events will include Sip & Stroll service. Hyatt Regency Reston and Makers Union support the Pavilion concert series, while Party DC helps secure performers and Meerkat Sound provides lighting and sound.
