• USDA to drop 271,000 rabies vaccine baits in SWVA (wfxrtv.com) — Rural Retreat is one of several Southwest Virginia communities where federal wildlife crews will drop oral rabies vaccine baits for raccoons starting in mid-October. Planes and helicopters will distribute 271,000 baits regionwide, avoiding roads and buildings, and each bait includes a toll-free number to call if you happen to find or handle one.
