The Rappahannock Valley Amateur Radio Club will take part in the annual National Field Day event on June 27 and 28. This amateur radio club provides communications support for public events around the greater Fredericksburg area, including most of the various races that occur in this region.
This National event brings local amateur radio operators together to test skills, equipment, protocols and policies that are used in conjunction with local, state and federal offices in the event of various types of events, emergencies and disasters. We welcome all community members to join us and learn about the HAM radio hobby and how it strengthens our understanding of the world around us.
This event is sanctioned by the ARRL and staged in cooperation with the local amateur (HAM) radio clubs of the greater Fredericksburg and surrounding communities.
This event is held at the Curtis Memorial Park in Stafford County in the spirit of cooperation, camaraderie, service and competition with other peer groups around the nation, rain or shine, day or night to accomplish a common goal. We invite all citizens to join us as we proudly demonstrate the skills, equipment, experience and knowledge needed to keep communities connected “When all else fails”. It’s likely that you will have some fun, learn something that you didn’t know, make a friend and, with a little luck, make a radio contact with another curious citizen anywhere in our shrinking world with your turn at the radio mike.
