Rideshare Driver Traps Women In Car Over Price Dispute: Police

WOODBRIDGE, VA – Two women were briefly trapped in a rideshare car by the driver after an argument over the rate they were to pay, according to police.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, a 32-year-old woman and a 25-year-old woman were using the Lyft rideshare program at about midnight on Sept. 6 on the 2700 block of Noble Fir Court in Woodbridge when the incident occurred.

Police say the women had been picked up by a driver, who was to take them from an event in Maryland to their homes. The driver proposed that the women pay a discounted rate directly to him, rather than through the app. While dropping the women off, an argument broke out over the price of the ride, and the driver, identified as Adar Bulut, 25, of Falls Church, reportedly refused to allow the women to exit the car and continued driving a short distance before letting them out.

No injuries were reported.

Bulut is described as a White man, 5’9”, 175 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. He is charged with two counts of abduction and one count of reckless driving.
